A Union of Musical Heritages
Duo Ephelia was formed out of a shared passion for exploring thematic connections in chamber repertoire. The ensemble represents a vibrant synthesis of distinct traditions: Milena Zhivotovskaya’s Eastern European pianistic heritage and Amy Glover’s dynamic American wind artistry and devotion to contemporary literature.
Rather than presenting disconnected recital pieces, Duo Ephelia curates “topic-centered” programs designed to be artful, intellectually engaging, and deeply expressive. Their recitals weave narrative arcs around historical eras, compositional aesthetics, and emotional landscapes.
Their appearances have brought them to celebrated venues including the Chicago Cultural Center’s Preston Bradley Hall, the Bohemian National Hall at the Czech Center New York, the Nicholas Roerich Museum, the Rutgers-Camden Mallery Concert Series, and the Kaufmann Center.
Amy Glover
A native Texan with roots in wind music and modern solo literature, Amy Glover studied at Mannes College of Music under Charles Neidich and Jeffrey Lerner. She was a finalist in the International Clarinet Association’s Orchestral Competition and has performed with the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra, the Texas New Music Ensemble, and the Banff Centre’s Performance Today as a musician-in-residence.
Milena Zhivotovskaya
Originally from Kiev, Ukraine, pianist and composer Milena Zhivotovskaya is deeply versed in the rich, introspective counterpoint of Eastern European post-Romantic composers. Her performances bring crystalline touch, structural clarity, and nuanced vocal phrasing to the collaborative piano repertoire.
